Condition

Restricted air flow from ventilation/heating duct on left side of instrument panel.

This may be caused by the foam seal protruding into the air channel of the A/C duct.

Production

Seals relocated as of VIN 1H_TM041702.

Service

If a vehicle prior to the above VIN exhibits this condition:

- Shine a flashlight from outside vehicle, down through windshield into the (drivers side) center defrost duct and inspect for foam seal protruding into air channel.

If foam seal is protruding into air channel:

- Remove instrument panel per instructions in Repair Manual W42 011 294 114.





- Remove foam seals from air ducts at locations -A- and -B- as shown.





- Install new foam seals
Part No: 1 H0 819 090A at locations -C- and -D- as shown.

- Carefully reinstall instrument panel in reverse order of removal.

Note:
Stereo speaker harness must be carefully routed between instrument panel defrost duct and A/C distribution duct when reinstalling instrument panel.
