WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR ALL 1994 MODEL YEAR VOLKSWAGENS 10 YEARS/100,000 MILES POWERTRAIN WARRANTY THE VOLKSWAGEN PROTECTION PLUS PROGRAM
This circular supercedes Warranty Service Circular V-93-22, dated, 10/01/93. The warranty coverage for all 1994 model year Volkswagen vehicles is as follows:
^ Limited New Vehicle Warranty ... 2 Years or 24,000 Miles, whichever occurs first.
^ Limited Warranty Against Corrosion Perforation ... 6 Years without mileage limitation.
^ Federal Emission Control System Warranty ... 5 Years or 50,000 Miles, whichever occurs first.
^ Federal Emission Performance Warranty Part 1: 2 Years or 24,000 Miles, whichever occurs first. Part 2: 5 Years or 50,000 Miles, whichever occurs first.
^ California Emission Control System Performance & Short Term Defects Warranty ... 3 Years or 50,000 Miles, whichever occurs first.
^ California Emissions Long Term Defects Warranty ... 7 Years or 70,000 Miles, whichever occurs first.
Warranty coverage for all of the 1994 models includes:
^ Limited Powertrain Warranty ... 10 Years or 100,000 Miles, whichever occurs first or until the original owner transfers ownership to someone other than an immediate family member (i.e., wife, husband, son or daughter). Second and subsequent owners have powertrain coverage for 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was first placed in service. A long term lease vehicle is covered for the warranty period or until the lease has expired. If the lessee or an immediate family member purchases the vehicle at the end of the lease, the 10 Year/100,000 Miles Limited Powertrain Warranty remains in effect.
It is the retailer's responsibility to verify first ownership when, performing a powertrain repair after 5 years or 50,000 miles.

- Free of charge scheduled maintenance for the 7,500 mile, 15,000 mile, and 22,500 mile maintenance services.

CLAIMING WARRANTY AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES
Warranty claims for 1994 model year vehicles are submitted using the applicable claim types, damage codes, and labor operations. 10 Year/100,000 Mile powertrain warranty claims for original owners, and 5 year/50,000 Mile powertrain warranty claims for all subsequent owners are submitted under the "PTI" claim type.

Only one claim for each of the following services will be accepted for each VIN.

The VOLKSWAGEN PROTECTION PLUS PROGRAM for 1994 model year Volkswagen vehicles includes Roadside Assistance provided by the United States Auto Club Inc./M.D.
Included in the Roadside Assistance portion of the program is towing service to the nearest authorized Volkswagen retailer provided by U.S.A.C.Inc./M.D.
In the event that a covered vehicle requires towing service, U.S.A.C.Inc./M.D. is to be called at the following toll-free number:

This number may be called 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
U.S.A.C.Inc./M.D. will dispatch a local towing service operator, and have the vehicle towed to the nearest Volkswagen retailer.
In the event the customer or retailer calls a towing service directly, without contacting U.S.A.C.Inc./M.D., you may submit a warranty claim for the towing expense. However, U.S.A.C.Inc./M.D. has placed a limit of $50 per incident. In addition, you are to advise the customer of the proper procedures for future reference. Additional towing claims will not be accepted through WIN. The towing amount is to be claimed in the "TOWING" field of the WIN claim. All towing claims will be reviewed by your Warranty Claim Adjuster Who may request supporting documentation.
