Condition

Noise heard while driving over uneven surfaces caused by friction between door sealing surface and the roof molding.

Production

A new seal has been installed as of the following VIN: 3VWSA81H1TM016022

Service

If a vehicle prior to the above VIN exhibits this condition the noise can be eliminated by installing isolation tape Part No: AKL 433 012 04 along door edges where they contact the roof molding.

- Clean painted surfaces on all doors where upper door contacts the roof moldings using isopropyl alcohol.

Note:
The surface must be clean and dry before proceeding.





- Install isolation tape along -A- on front doors where the door edge contacts the roof molding.

2 door models: Approx. 144 cm (56.75 in.)
4 door models: Approx. 128 cm (50.5 in.)





- Install isolation tape along -B- on rear doors (if applicable) where the door edge contacts the roof molding.

Approx. 77 cm (30.3 in.)

- Road test vehicle to assure noise has been eliminated.
