Condition
Exterior door locks cannot be locked or unlocked with key when ambient temperature is below freezing, lock cylinders become frozen due to water accumulation in the lock cylinder.
Production
New lock cylinders (with drain holes) installed beginning m.y 1997.

Service
If condition exists on vehicles produced prior to m.y. 1997:
- Remove front door handle.
- With key fully inserted in lock assembly, remove lock cylinder -A-.
- Using dry compressed air, remove moisture from lock cylinder and lock assembly.
- Turn seal -B- inside out and reinstall on lock cylinder with widest end of seal toward key opening.
Note:
- Apply ample amount of general purpose clear or white grease to the lock cylinder and lock cylinder cavity to prevent water accumulation in the lock cylinder assembly
- Reassemble lock cylinder/door handle assembly and reinstall in vehicle.
- Repeat procedure for remaining lock assembly if necessary.
