Condition

Some vehicles with daytime running lights can experience loss of instrument cluster illumination if driven for extended durations.

This is caused by a reduction in tension between the bulb holder contacts and the bulb holder housing.

Service

Replace original instrument cluster housing with 1996 version, which offers improved tension between the bulb holder contacts and bulb holder housing. Part number is dependent upon model and equipment level:

- Obtain customers radio security code.

- Remove battery ground (GND) strap.

- Remove instrument cluster assembly.





- Remove eight screws retaining instrument cluster to housing (arrows).

- Slide instrument cluster out of original housing, and into new housing.

- Reinstall eight retaining screws.

- Transfer both illumination bulb holders, with bulbs, from original housing into new housing.

- Reinstall instrument cluster assembly.

- Reconnect battery ground (GND) strap.

- Re-code radio.
