Radiator/Cooling Fans, Removal and Installation
Radiator Cooling Fan Switching Temperatures.
Low speed
switches ON 198-2O7°F (92-97°C)
switches OFF 183-196°F (84-91°C)
High speed
switches ON 210-221°F (99-105°C)
switches OFF 196-208°F (91-98°C)
Tightening Torques
Coolant outlet to cylinder head 10 Nm (89 in-lb)
Coolant pump housing to cylinder block 20 Nm (15 ft-lb)
Coolant pump pulley to coolant pump 20 Nm (15 ft-lb)
Coolant pump to pump housing 10 Nm (89 in-lb)
Radiator mounting bracket (bolt) 10 Nm (89 in-lb)
Thermostat housing to coolant pump housing 10 Nm (89 in-lb)
Thermoswitch to radiator 25 Nm (18 ft-lb)
Radiator and Radiator Fan Removing and Installing
Removing
- Drain coolant refer to "Cooling System Draining and Filling". Service and Repair
- Remove coolant hoses from radiator.
- Remove connector from thermal switch and radiator fan.
- Remove radiator mounting bolts.
- Remove lock carrier with attachments. Service and Repair
- Lift out radiator, fan and shrouding.

Installing
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Filling with coolant refer to "Cooling System Draining and Filling". Service and Repair
- Electrical connections and routing refer to Electrical Wiring Diagrams.
- Check head light adjustment if necessary adjust.
Vehicles with A/C
CAUTION: Do not open refrigerant circuit.
NOTE: To avoid damage to the condenser refrigerant lines and hoses be sure that the hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
- Disconnect EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) with retaining ring from air cleaner lower section.
- Remove air cleaner housing complete with Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70).
- Remove A/C receiver/dryer and let hang free.
- Remove retaining clamps from refrigerant lines
- Remove condenser from radiator and pull as far forward as possible.
- Lift out radiator and fan.
- Hang up condenser and lines to prevent lines from being stretched.
