COMPONENT NOTES
Bearing Cap (1)
- Note installation position, refer to the Installation procedures below.
Nut (2)
- Tighten to: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
Camshaft (3)
- Check axial clearance, refer to Testing and Inspection.
Hydraulic Lifter (4)
- Do not interchange.
- Has hydraulic valve clearance compensation.
- Checking, refer to Lifter Valve.
- Store with cam contact surface facing downwards.
- Check camshaft axial clearance, before installing.
- Oil the contact surfaces before assembly.
Outer Valve Spring (7)
- Remove or install with Cylinder Head Assembly removed using valve spring compressor tool No 2037, or equivalent.

SPECIAL TOOLS
Drift tool No. 10-206, or equivalent.
Hand reamer tool No. 10-215 and cutting fluid, or equivalents.
REMOVAL
1. Clean and check the cylinder head.
NOTE: Do not replace valve guides in cylinder heads in which the valve seats can no longer be reworked, or in cylinder heads which have been machined to the minimum dimension.
2. Press out worn production valve guides with drift from the camshaft side (press out valve guides with shoulder (repair version) from the combustion chamber side)
INSTALLING
1. Coat new guides with oil and press in with adaptor 10-206 from the camshaft side (cylinder head cold) until the shoulder of the new guide just contacts the head
NOTE: When the guide shoulder makes contact, pressure must not exceed 1.0 ton otherwise the shoulder may break off.
2. Ream guides out with hand reamer using plenty of cutting fluid.
3. Refinish valve seats.
