Hazard Warning Lamps: Testing and Inspection

Use test system VAG 1466 for troubleshooting.

Test Conditions:
^ Fuse no. 17 (10A) OK
^ Bulbs for turn signal lights OK

Preparation for Troubleshooting
- Remove emergency flasher relay J2 (production control number 21) from relay location 6. (Use trailer operation hazard flasher relay J20 (production control number 22) for vehicles with trailer socket).
- Insert test adapter VAG 1466/3 into relay location 6.
- Connect VAG 1466 to test adapter.

Troubleshooting Procedure
- Perform test steps according to table.
- Additional test step 7 only for vehicles with trailer socket.
- If specified value/test result is obtained, proceed with next step (test result OK).
- If specified value/test result is not obtained, use table for troubleshooting and repair.
- Use valid wiring diagram for wire testing.
- Disconnect test leads after each step.

NOTE:
- If malfunction has not been eliminated after performing steps 1 to 6 or 7, replace emergency flasher relay J2 or trailer operation hazard flasher relay J20.
- After repairing malfunction, perform functional test of turn signals and emergency flasher system.
