Amperage Draw, Checking Using the VAT 40

- Connect Amperage supply to glow plug.
- Connect glow plug wire to adaptor.
- Select Amperage measurement.
- Pre-glow, start engine and let idle.
- During the extended glow period (approx. 180 sec.) read Amperage draw with engine running.
The Amperage draw of the glow plugs during the extended glow period is approx. 8 Amp. per glow plug.
- Use the following chart to determine how many glow plugs are faulty (based on total Amperage draw):

If Amperage Draw = Number of Faulty Glow Plug(s)
32 A 0
24 A 1
16 A 2
8 A 3
0 A 4
