Cylinder Head Cover, Removing And Installing
Removing
- Remove spark plug connectors and ignition wires.
- Remove ignition wire guides -1- and -2-.
- Remove cover above. intake manifold upper section -3-.
- Remove bleeder hose from EVAP Canister Purge Valve from intake manifold upper section.
WARNING: Fire hazard! Bleeder hose must not come in contact with hot engine components. For correct routing see Figs. 1 and 2.
- Remove intake hose from throttle body.
- Remove connectors from Throttle Position Sensor, heater element, Idle Air Control Valve and Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
- Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle body and support bracket (do not remove locating clip).
- Release pressure from cooling system.
- Remove coolant hose from throttle body and plug hose.
- Remove hose from fuel pressure regulator.
- Remove vacuum hose from brake servo.
- Unclip fuel lines from cylinder head cover.
- Remove dip stick guide tube on intake manifold lower section.
- Remove intake manifold upper section with throttle body.
NOTE: Seal off in take ports with clean rag.
- Remove cylinder head cover.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
Replace cylinder head cover and gasket for in take manifold upper section.
First tighten intake manifold upper section to intake manifold lower section, then the two rear supports see items 4 and 32. Cylinder Head, Component Overview
- Adjust accelerator cable.
- Top-up engine coolant if necessary.

Marking on bleeder hose must be in line with marking on intake manifold upper section (arrows).
WARNING: Fire hazard! Bleeder hose must not to come in contact with hot engine components. Route hose over crankcase ventilation hose.
