Condition

Compact Disc (CD) changer skipping on rough road surfaces is caused by the mounting of the CD changer to the balance weight cover.

SERVICE

When Installing a new CD changer or to eliminate complaints of CD changer skipping on rough road surfaces, mount the CD changer to the inner body shell above the balance weight cover (see Fig. A) using the following brackets:

Part Numbers: 1E0 035 233 / 1E0 035 235

CAUTION
Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your parts department for the latest parts in formation.

- Install each mounting bracket, (see Fig. A) to the CD changer using three 5 mm screws (included in the CD changer installation kit.)

- Lift CD changer into place above the balance weight cover and mark location of two holes on the left shock tower -1- (this requires cutting a slit in the shock tower covering enough to allow bracket to fit behind covering and flush against shock tower).

- While holding CD changer in place also mark two holes for rear bracket -2- at the inner trunk panel as shown on illustration.

- Center punch marked holes, and drill using a 4 mm (5/32 in.) drill bit.

- Mount CD changer using (4) 6 x 12 hex sheet metal bolts (N 035 106 1 or equivalent).

CAUTION
Provide adequate corrosion protection for sheet metal exposed by drilling

NOTE
For cable routing and connections see the Cabrio CD installation instructions.
