Driver Side Airbag Module, Removing and Installing
Driver Side Airbag Module --> 02.98, Removing And Installing
CAUTION: Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap before working on electrical system.
Removing
NOTE:
- Removal and installation procedures may have to be modified slightly depending on equipment.
- Obtain radio code before disconnecting battery.
- After reconnecting battery, ensure vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) are checked per Owners manual.
- Turn steering wheel - 1 - to center position (wheels in straight-ahead position).
- Remove socket head bolts - 5 - (6.5 Nm).
CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of airbag. Therefore, mechanic must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping chassis or door striker.
- Remove airbag module - 3 - from steering wheel and disconnect red connector - 2 - from airbag unit.
Installing
- Installation is reverse order of removal.
CAUTION: Make sure no one is in vehicle.
- Switch on ignition.
- Connect battery
