CONDITION




The connector plug for the airbag ECM (arrow 1) has a locking safety catch to ensure proper engagement and retention (arrow 2). Previously, if this safety catch was accidentally broken during removal or installation, the entire airbag harness had to be replaced.

SERVICE

The connector plug housing with safety catch is now available as a separate part, part number 701 972 515 The safety catch lever is also available separately, part number 1 H0 972516.

To replace the housing:




Cut the tie-strap (arrow 3) and slide off the plastic end cap (arrow 4).




Slide the entire connector plug housing off of the pin retainer.

Slide the new housing onto the pin retainer, install the end cap, and a new tie-strap.
