Neutral Safety Switch: Testing and Inspection

Use test system VAG 1466 for troubleshooting.

Test Condition:
^ Transmission control module (TCM) J217 OK

Preparations for Troubleshooting
- Remove park/neutral position (PNP) relay J226 (production control number 150) from auxiliary relay panel, behind instrument panel, left.
- Insert test adapter VAG 1466/6 into relay.
- Connect VAG 1466 to test adapter.

Troubleshooting Procedure
- Perform test steps according to table.
- If specified value/test result is obtained, proceed to next step (test result OK).
- If specified value/test result is not obtained, use table for troubleshooting and repair.
- Use valid wiring diagram for wire testing.
- Disconnect test leads after each step.

NOTE:
- If malfunction has not been eliminated after performing steps 1 to 8, replace park/neutral position (PNP) relay J226.
- After repairing malfunction, perform functional test of park/neutral position.
