Instrument Panel, Removal and Installation

Removal
1. Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
2. Remove center console.
3. Remove radio.

WARNING: Refer to Air Bag Service Precautions, System Disarming, before attempting to remove air bags.

4. Remove driver's and passenger's side air bags if equipped.





5. Remove relay panel cover by pressing locking buttons (arrows) to unlock and pull out cover (1).





6. Pry off cover (1).
7. Remove Phillips-head screws and pull tray (2) downward at an angle. Make sure that guides (3) disengage.

8. Pry off cover (4).
9. Remove Phillips-head screws and pull left knee bar downward at an angle.
10. Pull out handle (5) and support (2).





11. Remove Phillips-head screws holding passenger's side storage shelf (vehicles without air bags), and pull shelf downward at an angle. Make sure that tabs (arrows) disengage.





12. Remove heater controls by prying off the cover (1) and removing the Phillips-head screws.
13. Press the heating and ventilating control (2) with attached cables under the instrument panel.





14. Remove the instrument cluster cover by unclipping covers (1) the and light switch.
15. Remove the Phillips-head screws and pull out the instrument cluster cover.
16. Remove the instrument cluster.




17. Remove the mounting screws (arrows) from the instrument cluster.
18. Tip the instrument cluster forward, and disconnect the multi-pin connector on the rear of the instrument cluster.
19. Remove the instrument cluster.





20. Remove the 11 hex-head retaining screws from the instrument panel which includes the glove box retaining screws.
21. Remove the hex nuts (1) located in the plenum chamber.
22. Partially remove the instrument panel (4) from the carrier/bulkhead (3), and disconnect the wiring harnesses from the instrument panel.
23. Remove the instrument panel.

Installation





NOTE: Install in reverse order of removal, making sure that sealing washers (2) are in place before installing the instrument panel.
