Start of Injection, Dynamically Checking and Adjusting
Setting Engine To TDC Cyl.1 (Engine Removed):
- Screw-in adjusting tool as shown.
- Set adjusting tool to 96.0 mm.
Reference point is graduation mark on left of vernier scale -arrow A-
- Turn crankshaft until TDC mark on flywheel is aligned with tip of adjusting tool -arrow B-.
If engine cannot be set to TDC cyl.1:
- Check valve timing
Checking and Adjusting:
- Remove plug from injection pump.
NOTES:
- Replace plug seal.
- Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
- May be tightened to max. 25 Nm (18 ft lb) if leaks occur
- Screw in adapter and small dial gauge (measuring range 0 to 3.0 mm) in place of plug
- Preload dial gauge to approx. 2.5 mm
- Slowly rotate crankshaft against engine direction of rotation (anti clockwise) until dial gauge pointer stops moving
- Set dial gauge to "0" with approx. 1 mm preload.
- Rotate crankshaft in engine direction of rotation (clockwise) until TDC marking on flywheel is aligned with the reference mark.
- Read off start of injection on dial gauge
Setting value 0.7 ±0.05 mm stroke
NOTE: No resetting is necessary provided the test value is within the specified tolerance.
- To adjust, loosen the three bolts on the bracket and the mounting bracket on the injection pump support.
- Adjust "start of injection" to the specified values by turning the injection pump using 3210 adjusting lever.
- Tighten mounting bolts
25 Nm (18 ft lb)
NOTE: Remember that you can always observe individual values by using Function 08 "Read measuring value block" displays.
