Fuel Injectors, Removing and Installing

FUEL INJECTORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

NOTE: Malfunctioning Fuel Injectors cause the following problems:
- Misfiring
- Knocking in one or more cylinders
- Engine overheating
- Loss of power
- Excessive black exhaust smoke
- High fuel consumption
- Excessive blue smoke when starting from cold

Malfunctioning Fuel Injectors can be isolated by loosening the connector at each Fuel Injector in turn with the engine running at fast idle. If engine speed remains constant after loosening a line connection, this indicates a malfunctioning Fuel Injector

Removing





- Remove injection lines using 3035 wrench.
- Remove injectors using 27 mm socket.

CAUTION:
- Always remove the complete set of lines.
- Do not alter shape of the lines.

Installing

CAUTION: Always install a new heat shield between cylinder head and injectors.





Installing heat shield:
- Arrow points toward cylinder head

Tightening torques:
- Injection lines: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Injectors: 70 Nm (52 ft lb)
