With Manufacturer's Scan Tool (VAG)

Erase DTC Memory (scan tool function 05)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items:

- VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool
- VAG1551/3 adapter cable

Test Conditions:

- Malfunctions (if any) eliminated
- No DTC's recognized

NOTE: After eliminating any malfunctions, check DTC memory again as described, and then erase it.

Work Sequence:

- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool
- Press -0- and -1- buttons to select "Engine Electronics" address word 01
Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX


- Press -0- and -2- buttons to select "Check DTC Memory" Function 02
- Press -Q- button to confirm input
- Press -> button until all stored DTC's have been displayed, and scan tool display reads as shown:

- Press -0- and -5- buttons to select "Erase DTC Memory" function 05
- Press -Q- button to confirm input
Display will appear as shown:

Rapid data transfer ->
DTC memory is erased


Note: If DTC memory cannot be erased, there is still a DTC stored in the ECM, indicating a malfunction that must first be corrected.

- Press -> button
Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX

- Press -0- and -6- buttons to select "End Output" function 06
- Press -Q- button to confirm input
- Road test
- Check DTC memory again

The must be no malfunctions recognized
- Display readiness code Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes

If DTC memory has been erased:
- Create readiness code again Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
