Insufficient A/C Cooling Output
Fig. 1:
NOTE:
- If evaporator -1- ices up, reducing air flow after driving a few miles, check insertion depth of A/C evaporator temperature switch -E33- sensing tribe and replace if necessary.
- If water sprays from air outlets -2-, check evaporator water drain valve.
- Coolant level cannot be read in sight glass (if equipped); mixture of R-134a and PAG oil can foam.
Test Conditions:
- Condenser and radiator are clean, spray clean if necessary
- Air ducts for condenser and radiator are properly installed and unobstructed
- Do not expose vehicle to direct sunlight when performing A/C system cooling output check
- Blower -11- runs in all 4 speeds
- Engine speed at approx. 2000 RPM
Test Procedure:
- Open instrument panel air vents -13-.
- Set ventilation control knobs as shown in image.
- A/C switch -E35- (-4-) ON
- Fresh air/recirculating flap switch -E159- (-6-) ON
Check components and specified functions using following table (image):
- Once above tested components check OK, check A/C system cooling performance. Numbers for components in these tables correspond with numbers assigned to components in Fig. 1, above.
