Powertrain Management: Description and Operation
The Turbo Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) is equipped with a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory.If malfunctions occur in monitored sensors and components, they will be stored in DTC memory together with an indication of the type of malfunction.
Electrical malfunctions such as; temporary open circuit, or a loose terminal will also be stored. These malfunctions are displayed as sporadic "SP" and are automatically cancelled if they are not repeated after 50 engine starts.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -1- lights up if an emission related malfunction occurs.
MIL lamp -2- flashes if a driveability related malfunction occurs.
NOTES:
- MIL lamp K83 in the instrument cluster should light up when the ignition is switched ON and go out when the engine starts.
