Sunroof / Moonroof: Description and Operation

An exploded view of the sunroof assembly. The outer sunroof panel must be removed and the headliner trim frames moved out of the way to gain access to the sunroof mechanism for adjustment or repair. The assembly frame includes the guide rails, cable guides and cables as an assembled unit. Removing and replacing it requires removing interior trim and the molded headliner.

CAUTION!
Do not use ordinary multi-purpose grease to lubricate the sunroof guide rails. They require a special lubricant. Use only Volkswagen Sunroof lubricate. Always check with your authorized Volkswagen dealer for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
