Readiness Code, Creating
READINESS CODE, CREATING
NOTES:
- The engine must not be switched off during the test sequence.
- If the test sequence procedure is interrupted or not followed, the readiness code will not be created.
- Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory. DTC Memory, Mode 3
If a malfunction is stored:
- Clear DTC memory. Clear DTC Memory, Mode 4
Test sequence
- Switch ignition on for approx. 30 seconds.
- Start engine and run at idle.
Diagnosis: Tank venting system leak detection (runs automatically)
- Increase engine speed to 3000-3500 RPM for 90 seconds to heat up Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
Diagnosis: Secondary air injection system
- Vehicle stationary
- Run engine at idle for 40 seconds.
Diagnosis: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) aging
- Increase engine speed to 2200-3300 RPM for 3 minutes.
Diagnosis: Oxygen Sensor (O2S) control adaptation in partial load range
- Test drive for at least 13 minutes. When doing this:
- Automatic transmission: driving range 3
- Manual transmission: 3rd gear
- Test drive must be carried out without interruption, this means without reaching deceleration fuel cutoff or idle (closed throttle position)
- Then allow the engine to run for at least 13 minutes at idle.
- Read readiness code. Current Data, Mode 1
If the readiness code is still not OK, perform the work steps again.
