With Manufacturer's Scan Tool (VAG)

Special Tools Testers And Auxiliary Items:
- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool using VAG 1551/3 adaptor cable

Test Conditions:
- All malfunctions (stored DTC's) corrected or eliminated
- Perform road test of at least 10 minutes duration

NOTE: After eliminating DTCs, check DTC memory then erase.

Work Sequence:
- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool
- Start engine and let idle
- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select address word 01 "engine electronics"
Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX


- Press 0 and 2 buttons to select Function 02 "Check DTC memory
- Press Q button to enter input
- Press -> button until all stored DTCs have been displayed and the display appears as shown:

- Press 0 and 5 buttons to select Function 05 "Erase DTC memory
- Press Q button to enter input
Display will appear as shown:

DTC Memory is erased


NOTE: If an uncorrected DTC exists in DTC memory DTC memory will not allow you to erase the code until the malfunction has been fixed.

- Press -> button
Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX


- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06 "End data transfer"
- Press Q button to enter input
- Repeat road test and check DTC memory
- No DTCs should appear
