Gasket Selection

Select a gasket with the same number of holes/notches when replacing gasket without other component replacement.

If pistons, rods or short block have been replaced proceed as follows:

- Piston protrusion above TDC must be measured whenever new pistons, rods or a short block is installed.
- Depending upon the piston protrusion above TDC, install the correct gasket using the following table:

^ Piston protrusion: 0.91 mm to 1.00 mm
Use gasket with: 1 Holes/notches

^ Piston protrusion: 1.01 mm to 1.10 mm
Use gasket with: 2 Holes/notches

^ Piston protrusion: 1.11 mm to 1.20 mm
Use gasket with: 3 Holes/notches

- Cylinder head gasket identification:

- Part number = black arrow
- Holes/notches = white arrow

NOTE: If differing results are obtained when measuring piston protrusion, use the largest measurement to select the correct gasket.
