Locate transaxle code as described under "Identification", then refer to Fig. 6 & 7 to locate stall speed table that applies to vehicle being tested.
1. Connect a suitable engine tachometer to vehicle.
2. Run vehicle until it is at normal operating temperature.
3. Block wheels and set parking brake.
4. Start engine, then while holding down on brake pedal, apply full throttle for no more than five seconds and read torque converter stall speed from the engine tachometer.
5. Compare reading with table.
a. If stall speed reading is over 200 RPM high, check for a damaged forward clutch or one way clutch.
b. If stall speed reading is up to 200 RPM low, check for poor engine performance.
c. If stall speed reading is over 200 RPM low, check for a faulty torque converter.
