Condition

ABS pump activation is heard when vehicle reaches approximately 13 mph (20 kmh).

^ Noise due to pump activation is heard only once during each trip.

^ Noise is heard for approx. 1/2 second.

Service

The ABS system tests the ABS pump motor by activating the ABS pump for approx. 1/2 second at approx. 13mph (20 kmh).

When activation occurs the noise of the pump may be heard inside the vehicle.

Note:
This is a normal tunction of the ABS system and no repair is necessary.

If a malfunction in the ABS system occurs, the ABS light will come ON. The system should then be checked using the VAG 1551 Scan Tool.
