Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Significance

If malfunctions that could adversely affect the exhaust emissions are recognized by the Diesel DFI ECM, they will be indicated by the MIL.




Location of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K83-

NOTE: If the MIL comes on to indicate malfunctions that could adversely affect exhaust emissions, it is necessary to check DTC memory.

MIL Functional Check:
- Switch ignition on.
- MIL must come on (light up) and stay on until the engine has started
- Glow plug indicator light may also come on during the preglow period when the engine is cold

If the MIL does not come on (with ignition switched on):
- Check MIL as follows:





If the MIL does come on (with ignition switched on):
- Start engine and let idle.
- MIL must go out after a few seconds.

If the MIL does not go out:
- Check DTC memory
