Fuel Tank

Fuel Tank And Related Components:






1 Cap
Replace seal if damaged.
2 Circlip
3 Rubber boot
4 Ground connection
5 O-ring
Always replace.
6 Breather valve
Checking See Fig. 2, Below.
To remove, press safety catch lightly inward -arrow- and remove valve.
7 Expansion tank
8 Return line
Color: blue
From fuel rail.
9 Check valve
Arrow points in direction of flow.
10 Screw cap
Remove and install with tool 3217.
11 Hose guide
12 Flange
Note installation position on tank See Fig. 1, Below.
13 Supply hose
14 Return hose
15 Seal
Lubricate with gasoline to assemble.
Replace if damaged.
16 Fuel Pump (FP) (G6)
Pump and Fuel Level Sensor (G) -18- comprise Fuel Pump (FP) Module.
17 Strainer
18 Fuel Level Sensor (G)
Sensor and Fuel Pump (FP) (G6) -16- comprise Fuel Pump (FP) Module.
19 Retaining strap
Note different lengths
20 Bracket
21 25 Nm (18 ft lb)

When removing, support with VAG 1383A.

25 Fuel filter
Arrow:"AUS" or "AUSLAUF" points in direction of flow.
26 Supply line
Color: black
To fuel rail
27 23Nm (15 ft lb)
28 Bracket
- For fuel filter
29 Rubber pad
30 Spring clip
31 Spacer
32 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
33 Gravity valve
- To remove, unclip valve and remove from filler pipe up and out.
- Check valve
Vertical = valve open
Tipped 45° = valve closed
34 Breather line
- To Evaporation Emission (EVAP) Canister.




- Fig. 1 Installation position of flange for Fuel Pump (FP) Module.
- Mark on flange must align with mark on fuel tank.




- Fig. 2 Breather valve, checking.
- Lever in rest position: valve closed.
- Lever pressed in direction of arrow: valve open.
