Pump Delivery Pressure Checking



Pump delivery pressure, checking (Vehicles with 4-cyl. engine)

Special tools required

- Clamp off suction and return hoses with clamps 3094 or equivalent.
- Remove pressure hose from power steering pump.
- Screw adapter VAG 1402/3 into pump in place of banjo bolt.
- Screw gauge VAG 1402 onto adapter VAG 1402/3.
- Close gauge shut-off valve (lever to left).
- Remove clamps 3094 or equivalent.
- Start engine and add fluid to reservoir if necessary.
- Read off gauge pressure with engine at idling speed (do not measure longer than 10 seconds). Specification: 110 - 120 bar (1595 - 1740 psi).

Note: If the specifications are not obtained, replace power steering pump.

- Check hydraulic fluid level. Refer to Power Steering Fluid; Testing and Inspection.
- Check steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid; Testing and Inspection.
- Bleed steering system. Refer to Power Steering Fluid; Service and Repair.
