Front brakes (Lucas), servicing
Note:
- Install complete repair kit.
- After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary to ensure pads are properly seated.
- To draw off brake fluid from the reservoir use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid
WARNING: Brake fluid is poisonous and must not be sucked out through a hose by mouth.
- Wheel bolt tightening torque: 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.)
1. Brake hose
- Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
2. Spring clip
3. Brake line
- 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
- Screw into brake caliper housing
- Screw into brake hose, counter hold on brake hose fitting.
- Ensure tabs are seated in retainer grooves.
4. Self-locking hex bolt,
- 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
- Always replace
- When loosening and tightening counter hold on guide pin
5. Ribbed combination bolt,
- 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.)
- Clean ribs if re-using bolt
CAUTION: Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose. The unsupported weight can stretch and damage the hose.
6. Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps
- Supplied as replacement part assembled with guide pins greased
7. Brake disc, non-ventilated
- Always replace on both sides
- Brake disc diameter 280 mm (11.0 inch diameter)
- Brake disc thickness: 22 mm (0.86 inch)
- Wear limit: 20 mm (0.78 inch)
8. Brake pads
- Always replace in pairs
- Removing and installing
- Pad thickness: non ventilated brake disc, 14 mm (0.55 inch)
- Brake pad wear limit: 2 mm (0.078 inch)
- Brake pad wear limit including back plate: 7 mm (0.27 inch)

10. Brake caliper housing
- Do not remove brake hose when changing brake pads
11. Retainer
- Boll to brake caliper housing
12. 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
