Automatic test sequence

During test and assembly work malfunctions can be recognized from other ECM's (e.g. plug disconnected). Therefore after completing any work, check and erase all DTC memories of all ECM's as follows:

- Press 0 button twice to select Address Word 00: "Automatic test sequence"
- VAG 1551 will display all known Address words in sequence.
- Press Q button to enter input


NOTE:
- When an ECM answers with its I.D., the number of stored DTC's appears on the display or "no DTC recognized".
- Any system malfunctions that are stored will be displayed one afier the other and printed out. The VAG 1551 will then display the next Address word.


Automatic test sequence ends when Display appears as shown

- Erase all DTC memories and then take a road test.

During road test following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
- Engine Coolant temperature must exceed 80 °C .
- When the Engine Coolant Temperature is reached, the following operating conditions must be attained several times:
Closed throttle (idle)
Partial throttle
Wide Open Throttle
Overrun
- At Wide Open Throttle, engine speed must exceed 3500 rpm.

- Again check the DTC memories of all ECM s using the Address word 00 "Automatic test sequence".

If no DTC is stored:

- Press -> button.

Display will appear as shown
