Rear Seat Belts With Belt Tensioner, Assembly Overview
WARNING!
Before starting any body disassembly, straightening or any other body repair work, belt tensioning units must be removed.
CAUTION:
After an accident in which one or more belt tensioners have been activated, both seat belts must be replaced (belts will no longer retract).
1 - Seat belt with belt tensioner
- Retaining lugs determine position at bell retractor
- Return old (removed) components, that have not been activated, to Volkswagen at America tar disposal
2 - Bolt
- 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
3 - Belt latch
4 - Belt guide
5 - Screw
- 15 Nm (9-15 in. lb)
6 - Belt guide
Rear Seat Belt With Belt Tensioner, Removing
- Release rear seat backrest and told forward.
- Loosen nut -2- and remove striker bolt -3-.
- Pull upper area of padding -1- out of clip -4-, press lower locking lug -6-to rear, out of sill panel -7-and pull up with locking lug -5-.
- Remove bolt -1- (makes belt tensioner safe at the same time).
- Unhook seat belt with belt tensioner -arrows-.
- Open belt
- Remove belt anchor -2- and remove seat belt from bracket.
