Front Seats, Removing And Installing

CAUTION: Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap before working on electrical system.


NOTE:
- Removing and installing procedures may have to be modified slightly depending on vehicle equipment.
- Obtain radio code before disconnecting battery.
- After reconnecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) to Owners manual.

Removing

CAUTION: Before working on electrical system: Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap.


- Pull off cover strip - 1 - from inner guide rail toward rear.
- Pull out wedge - 2 - on rear side of cover cap - 3 - using flat pliers and remove cover cap from outer guide rail.
- Slide seat forward, press locking clip - 4 - and remove.







- Slide seat back out of guide rails.







CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of airbag. Therefore, mechanic must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping chassis or door striker.

NOTE: Connector - 2 - (airbag adapter VAS 5061) is not required.

- Disconnect igniter and Ground (GND) wire from side airbag.
- Connect connector - 1 - ( airbag adapter VAS 5061 ) in connector housing - 4 -.
- Connect connector - 3 - ( airbag adapter VAS 5061 ) in connector housing - 5 -.







- If installed, disconnect harness connectors for seat heater and seat adjuster.







Installing
- Installation is reverse order of removal.

NOTE:
- Check glide pieces - 6 -on left and right sides and front glide piece - 5 - for damage, replace if necessary.
- Lubricate glide pieces on left and right sides and front glide piece (multi-purpose grease).

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in vehicle.

- Switch on ignition.
- Close doors.







- Connect battery ground (GND) strap.
