Note:
Black valve.
With no power applied, the valve is normally closed.

Special tools and equipment






- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool

Note: The VAG 1552 Scan Tool can be used instead of the VAG 1551, however; a printout is not possible.






- VAG 1551/3 adapter cable for VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool

Checking requirements

- No malfunctions stored in DTC memory
- All electrical consumers switched OFF, e.g. lights and rear window defogger must be OFF
- AC switched OFF

Functional check

- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool.

- Start engine and let idle.
- Press buttons -0- and -1- to select "Engine electronics" address word 01.






Display will appear as shown

- Press buttons -0- and -4- to select "Basic setting" function 04.
- Press -Q- button to enter input.






Display will appear as shown

If specifications not obtained:

- Press buttons -1-, -5- and -0- to select "Display group 150".
- Press -Q- button to enter input.






Indicated on display (1 to 4 = Display fields)

- Run engine at idle speed (800-880 RPM) and check specifications after 60 seconds.






- Perform Output Diagnostic Test Mode and activate EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-.
- Display Readiness Code.

If specifications obtained:

- Press -> button.






Display will appear as shown

- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End transfer" function 06.
- Press -Q- button to enter input.
- Switch ignition off.
