Fuel Pump: Description and Operation
DESIGN AND FUNCTIONThe fuel pump assembly is submersed in the fuel tank. An inlet strainer helps prevent pump clogging. The fuel pump contains a bypass valve to prevent high pressure from damaging the system.
There is a check valve at the pump outlet to hold pressure in the system after the pump is turned off.
A roll-over valve is installed in the fuel filler neck to prevent fuel from escaping in the event the car rolls over in an accident.
