Windshield Wiper Motor
WARNING: Before working on the electrical system disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTES:
- When the battery has been reconnected, check operation of electrical equipment (radio, clock and convenience electrics etc.).
- For OBD II vehicles, the readiness code for the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be re-generated after the battery has been disconnected.
Removing wiper frame with rods and wiper motor
- Remove wiper arms. Service and Repair
- Remove cowl panel.
- Pull connector off wiper motor.
- Remove M6 hex bolts (arrows) and washers
- Remove wiper frame completely.
Removing wiper motor from wiper frame
- Pry rods off crank using large screwdriver.
- Remove M8 hex nut -2-.
- Remove crank.
- Remove three M6 securing bolts -3- for wiper motor.
Installing wiper motor in wiper frame
- Run motor to park position; to do this connect harness connector and operate wiper switch briefly.
- Disconnect harness connector again and tighten M6 motor securing bolts.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (71 ft lb)
- Install crank and align so rods are in line (see image).
- Tighten M8 hex nut -2- and press rods onto crank again.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Press rods -1- onto crank again.
