Automatic Test Sequence

Address word 00: Automatic test sequence
Checking and repair work can often generate malfunctions in any of the electronic vehicle systems having a Control Module with DTC memory. For example, disconnecting a component connector to check it electrically can sometimes generate a malfunction in the DTC memory of the system the component belongs to. Therefore, after repairs or checks have been completed, always check and erase all of the possible DTC memories to see if any malfunctions have become inadvertently stored. Proceed as follows:

- Press buttons -0- and -0- again to select Address word 00: "Automatic test sequence"
- Scan Tool will transmit all known Address words in sequence.

- Press -Q- button to enter input.

After the Control Module has displayed its identification; either the number of stored DTCs appears on the display or "No DTC recognized".

Any stored system malfunctions will be displayed one after the other and printed out. The Scan Tool will then transmit the next Address word.

The automatic test sequence has ended if the display appears as shown:

VAG-On Board Diagnostic HELP

- Erase all DTC memories and then take a test drive.
