Rear Bumper: Service and Repair

Assembly Overview

NOTE:
- Overview describes removal and installation of rear bumper for vehicles --> 06.05. Removal and installation applies to vehicles 07.05 -->, except slight changes.
- Bumper cover is component part of rear end and is removed together.
- Observe tightening sequence of bolts - 2 -,- 4 -,- 12 - to ensure surface alignment and joint.







1 - Cover
- Vehicles --> 06.05
- Removing:
- Remove tail lights
- Remove wheelhousing liners.
- Remove rear end.
- Remove bolts and remove clips at left and right.
- Remove bolts and.

2 - Bolt
- Insert with locking fluid D 185 400 A2
- 6x
- 6 Nm
- Note tightening sequence

3 - Base plate
- With holes
- 2x

4 - Bolt
- Insert with locking fluid D 185 400 A2
- Note tightening sequence

5 - Clip
6 - Base plate
- With welded captive nuts
- 2x

7 - Left insulation
- Bonded using butyl adhesive sealing cord AKL 450 005 05

8 - Right insulation
- Bonded using butyl adhesive sealing cord AKL 450 005 05

9 - Bumper carrier
10 - Bolt
- 4x
- 30 Nm

11 - Fender
12 - Bolt
- 4x
- Insert with locking fluid D 185 400 A2
- 6 Nm
- Note tightening sequence

13 - Base plate
- With holes
- 2x

14 - Base plate
- With welded captive nuts
- 2x

15 - Ventilation grid
- Vehicles 07.05
- Removing:
- Remove back-up light
- Remove rear fog light
- Unclip ventilation grid toward rear.
