Automatic Test Sequence

Automatic Test Sequence

During diagnosis and repairs DTCs may be created in other control modules, (e.g. harness connector disconnected). Upon completion of repairs DTC memories of all control modules must be checked and any DTCs must be erased. To do this:
- Press buttons -0- and -0- to insert "Automatic Test Sequence" address word 00 and press -Q- button to confirm input.

When a control module identification is displayed the number of DTCs in memory or "No DTC recognized" is displayed.

Any stored DTCs will be displayed and printed out. The VAG1551 scan tool will then transmit the next address word.

The automatic test sequence has ended when the following is indicated on display.

- During a test drive in an airbag-equipped vehicle, test equipment must always be fastened to and operated from the rear seat by a second technician.

NOTE:
During the road test the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
- Coolant temperature must exceed 85 °C (185 °F)
- When coolant temperature has been reached the operating conditions for idle, pad throttle, full throttle, and deceleration must be attained several times.
- At full throttle the engine speed must exceed 3500 RPM.

- Conduct an automatic test sequence again.
