DTC Memory Checking and Erasing




Check DTC Memory (Scan Tool Function 02) And Erase DTC Memory (Scan Tool Function 05)

Special tools and equipment
VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) with VAG1551/3 adapter cable

Checking
- Connect VAG 1551/VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) and press buttons -0- and -1- to insert "Engine Electronics" address word 01 (engine running at idle). [1][2][3][4]Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool


NOTE:
If engine does not start:
- Operate starter to crank engine for approx. 6 seconds, then do not switch ignition off.
- Press PRINT button to switch scan tool printer on (indicator light in button lights up).

Select function XX



- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select "Check DTC Memory" function 02, and press -Q- button to confirm input.

Indicated on display (number of stored malfunctions, or "No DTC recognized")


X DTC recognized


- If "No DTC recognized" is displayed press -> button.

If one or more DTCs are stored:
Stored malfunctions are displayed one after another, and are printed out along with applicable DTCs.


Indicated on display (after all stored malfunctions have been printed)

- Press buttons -0- and -5- to select "Erase DTC Memory" function 05, and press -Q- button to confirm input.

Rapid data transfer ->
DTC Memory is erased



NOTE:
If the ignition is switched off between "Check DTC Memory" and "Erase DTC Memory" the DTC memory will not be erased.
- If DTC memory has been erased, generate new readiness code, Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
- Press -> button to advance through program sequence.
