Secondary air inlet valve, checking
Engine: AEG
Special tools and equipment
- VAG 1594 Adapter set
- VAG 15927 Diode test light
Requirements
- Coolant temperature 5 to 33°C
- Secondary air pump motor OK.
Work sequence
- Pull upper vacuum hose (arrow) off secondary air inlet valve.
- Start engine and run at idling speed.
When secondary air pump motor runs a vacuum must be perceptible at secondary air inlet valve union.
If no vacuum is perceptible:
- Switch engine off.
- Disconnect 2-pin connector from secondary air inlet valve (arrow).
- Connect voltage tester VAG 1527B to the outer contacts of connector with auxiliary cables from V.A.G 1594C.
- start engine and run at idling speed.
The LED must light up.
LED lights up (voltage supply OK.):
- Replace secondary air inlet valve.
LED does not light up.
- Connect 2-pin connector
- Check activation of valve. [1][2]Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), (Function 03)
- Check wiring, refer to wiring diagrams
- Read DTC memory Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Read readiness code: Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
- Generate readiness code again if DTC memory has been erased or engine control module was disconnected from permanent positive. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
