1 - Air cleaner
- Dismantling and assembling Service and Repair
2 - 10 Nm
3 - 6 Nm
4 - Vacuum connection
- To intake manifold
5 - 40-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Release to disconnect
6 - 81-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Release to disconnect
7 - Engine control module*
- (Motronic control module - J220)
- Fitting location: In plenum chamber
- Checking voltage supply. Refer to "Control Module Voltage Supply Check" Testing and Inspection
- Procedure after voltage supply open circuit. Refer to "Relearn Procedure" Service and Repair
- Replace
8 - 4 pin connector
- Brown for Oxygen sensor 2 after catalyst (G130) and Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater (Z19)
- Right on underside of vehicle
9 - 4-pin connector
- Black for Oxygen sensor 1 before catalyst (G39) and Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater (Z19)
- Right on underside of vehicle
10 - Oxygen sensor 1 before catalyst (G39)*, 50 Nm
- Location: In front exhaust pipe
- Grease only the threads with "G 052 112 A3"; "G 052 112 A3" must not get into the slots on the probe body
- Checking Oxygen sensor control before catalyst. Refer to "Oxygen Sensor Before Catalyst/Sensor and Control Check" Testing and Inspection
- Checking heated oxygen sensor. Refer to "Oxygen Sensor Before Catalyst/Checking" Testing and Inspection
11 - Oxygen sensor 2 after catalyst (G130)*, 50 Nm
- Location: Behind catalyst
- Grease only the threads with "G052 112 A3"; "G 052 112 A3" must not get into the slots on the probe body
- Checking Oxygen sensor and Oxygen sensor control after catalyst. Refer to "Oxygen Sensor After Catalyst/Sensor and Control Check" Testing and Inspection
- Checking heated oxygen sensor for Oxygen sensor after catalyst. Refer to "Oxygen Sensor After Catalyst/Checking" Testing and Inspection

- Checking Testing and Inspection
16 - 3 pin connector
- Grey
- For engine speed (RPM) sensor
- Fitting location, engine compartment overview Locations

- Replace if damaged

- Between intake manifold and engine block
21 - 6 Nm
22 - Charge pressure sender (G31)*

- Replace
25 - From activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 (N80)
- Activated charcoal filter system
26 - Throttle valve control module (J338)*
- Checking Testing and Inspection
- If replaced match engine control module. Refer to "Throttle Valve Control Module, Adapting to Engine Control Module" Service and Repair
- If replaced adapt control module for automatic transmission:
27 - Return pipe
- Secure with spring-type clips
- Check securely seated
- To the fuel delivery unit in fuel tank
28 - Supply pipe/hose
- Secure with spring-type clips
- From fuel filter:
29 - 10 Nm
30 - Fuel rail with injectors
- Dismantling and assembling Service and Repair
31 - Intake Air - Temperature (IAT) sensor (G42)*
- Checking Testing and Inspection
32 - To pipe between turbocharger and charge air cooler
33 - To pipe between turbocharger and charge air cooler
34 - To turbocharger
35 - From crankcase breather
36 - Engine-Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (G62)*
- For engine control module
- With coolant temperature gauge sender (G2)
- If necessary release pressure in cooling system before removing
37 - Connector
- Black, 4-pin
- For Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (G62)
38 - Retaining clip
- Check seated securely
39 - To turbocharger divert valve (N249)
