Engine to assembly stand, attaching

Note: When working on the engine, it should be secured to the assembly stand support clamp VW313 using the engine and transmission bracket VW 540.





Test sequence
- Move engine/transmission with VAG1383 A lift to a workbench.
- Lower engine/transmission unit so that transmission is supported (at supporting point).
- Remove transmission.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
- Secure torque converter against falling out after separating engine from transmission.





Continued for all vehicles
- Attach 2024A lifting tackle with 2024 A/1 extension as follows and lift out from engine/transmission jack VAG1 383/A using workshop crane:
Pulley end: 3rd hole in hook at position 2
Flywheel end: 3rd hole in hook at position 8

WARNING: Secure all hooks and locating pins with locking pins.

Note:
^ The positions marked 1-4 on the bar must be toward the pulley end.
^ The holes in the hooks are counted up from the hook.





- Secure engine to VW 313 support clamp using VW 540 engine/transmission bracket.
