Assembly Carrier, Removing And Installing

Window regulator, door lock and loudspeaker are secured to assembly carrier.

Window regulator is part of assembly carrier delivery casing.

Assembly carrier can only be removed when door window has been Removed at clamping brackets of window regulator. For this purpose, door window must be lowered to height of installation holes in assembly carrier and clamping brackets loosened.

If it is not possible to lower door window by electrical window regulator, first exact cause of malfunction must be determined.

To do so, using Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551, check DTC Memory of comfort system (address word 46): On Board Diagnostic (OBD) of comfort system.

Removing
- Remove front door trim Service and Repair
- Removing lock cylinder housing Service and Repair






- Remove caps -1-.
If door window cannot be lowered using electric window regulator, proceed according to description

- Lower door window until securing bolts of door window are accessible.
- Loosen bolts -2- and press clamping brackets apart.
- Slide door window upward and secure (e.g. using adhesive tape).






- Disconnect all harness connectors -arrows-
- Remove cap -3-.






- Remove bolts -2-, tightening torques: 20 Nm






- Remove bolts -arrows-. Remove upper assembly carrier from door, lift and lift out from door toward hinge side of door.
- Rotate assembly carrier and disconnect harness connector from door lock.
- Unclip clips for electrical wires from rear side of assembly carrier.

Installing
- Insert assembly carrier into door.
- Insert bolts and tighten in specified sequence, tightening torque: 8 Nm.
- Insert door window -1- into door.

- Press door window -1- into window channel -arrow- and tighten clamping brackets with bolts -2-.
Tightening torque: Bolts -2- 9 Nm.






Rest of Installation is reverse of removal.
- Perform a function load test.
