Fuel Pump: Locations




FUEL TANK WITH ATTACHMENTS, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW

- Filler tube connection






1 - Connector
^ Black, 4-pin
^ For Fuel Level Sensor G and Transfer Fuel Pump (FP) G6


2 - Locking ring, 145 Nm
^ Ensure seated tightly.
^ Use wrench 3087 to remove and install.
3 - Supply line
^ White lettering
^ Make sure fuel lines are securely fastened.
4 - Sender for fuel gauge G
5 - Fuel pump
^ With flange
^ Clean strainer if soiled.
6 - 2 Nm
7 - Supply line
^ White marking/lettering
^ Make sure fuel lines are securely fastened.
8 - Fuel filter
9 - Vent line
^ Ensure it is firmly seated.
10 - Vent line
^ Ensure it is firmly seated.
11 - Vent line
^ Ensure it is firmly seated.
12 - Vent line
^ Ensure it is firmly seated.
13 - from connecting hose
^ Ensure it is firmly seated.
14 - Vent line
^ From evaporative emission (EVAP) canister to Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve N80.
^ Clipped onto the fuel tank.
15 - Union nut, 60 Nm
^ Use ring nut wrench 3218 for removal and installation
16 - Connector
^ Black, 2-pin
^ For fuel supply sensor 3 G237.
17 - Fuel supply sensor 3 G237
18 - Seal
^ Replace if damaged.
^ To install, place into opening of fuel tank dry.
^ Only coat with fuel when installing sender and flange.
19 - Heat shield
^ For fuel delivery connection.
20 - 10 Nm
21 - 23 Nm
22 - Securing strap
^ Note installation position.
23 - Securing clip
^ Ensure seated tightly.
24 - 23 Nm
25 - Heat shield
^ For fuel tank.
26 - Fuel supply sensor 2 G169
27 - Fuel tank
^ Support with engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A when removing.
28 - Return line
^ Blue lettering
^ Make sure fuel lines are securely fastened.


Filler tube

- Fuel tank connection






1 - Cap
2 - Seal
^ Replace if damaged.
3 - Bolt
4 - Fuel filler door unit
^ With rubber cup.
5 - Gravity valve
^ To remove valve unclip upward out of support.
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
^ Test valve for through-flow.
- Valve vertical: Open
- Valve angled at 45 : Closed

Note: When examining the complete part press the lever of the bleeder valve and blow into line connection with quick-coupling.

6 - 0-ring
^ Replace if damaged.
7 - Breather valve
^ To remove valve unclip sideways out of support.
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
8 - Combination protection valve
^ For fueling ventilation.
^ Note installed position:
- White valve-side to filler flange bottom.
9 - Pressure retention valve
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
10 - Junction piece
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
11 - Connection piece
^ Ensure seated tightly.
^ Press together at front to release.
12 - 23 Nm
13 - Vent line
^ Ensure seated tightly.
14 - Non-return valve
^ Note installed position:
- Gray valve side faces in direction of cap.
15 - Vent line
^ Ensure seated tightly.
16 - Vent line
^ Ensure seated tightly.
17-Vent line
^ Ensure seated tightly.
18 - Connecting hose
^ Ensure seated tightly.
19 - Vent line
^ Ensure seated tightly.
20 - Trim strip
21 - Fuel tank filler tube
22 - Non-return valve
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
^ Note installed position:
- Gray valve side faces in direction of vent valve.
23 - Ground connection
^ Ensure seated tightly.
24 - Floater valve
^ From 08.2003 as complete part.
^ For fueling ventilation.
25 - Protective cap






Checking breather valve

- Lever in rest position: Closed
- Lever pushed in direction of arrow: Open
^ Before installing valve, unscrew cap from fuel tank.






Checking pressure retention valve

The pressure retention valve is open in both flow directions - arrow 1 - from gravity valve side.

On the other side only one direction of flow is open, - arrow 2-.
