Radial Run-out On Drive Shaft Drive Flange, Measuring And Marking





Special tools and equipment
VW387 Universal dial indicator bracket.

The radial run-out must always be measured when the flange has been removed.

The radial run-out can also be measured when the rear final drive is installed.





- Install measuring tools.
- Set dial indicator to zero with 1 mm preload and position on machined surface (arrow) in flange.
- Turn flange one complete rotation.
- Mark position of greatest radial run-out on flange.
- Remove previous marks on flange.





- When installing drive shaft, marks on drive shaft flange (arrow -A-) and on rear final drive (arrow -B-) must be aligned.
