Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

No DTC Recognized

NOTES:
- The following table lists all the possible malfunctions which can be recognized by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- and displayed on the VAG 1551 or VAG 1552 Scan Tool (ST) when DTC memory is checked. The DTCs are listed by their 5-digit number.
- If malfunctions occur only occasionally, or if DTC memory was not erased after repairing the malfunctions, these malfunctions will be displayed as "sporadic malfunctions" for a stipulated period of time. See DTC recognition by the transmission control module, at "Description of On-Board Diagnostics".
- If components are indicated as being faulty during the check of DTC memory, also test the wiring to the components for short circuits and open circuits according to the wiring diagram See "Electrical Wiring Diagrams & Component Locations" binder, Passat 1998 On.
- The DTC is printed out in the "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1 only when the printer of the VAG 1551 ST is switched ON.
Example: DTC 65535, 123 (type of DTC, 3 position)
- When the 7.0 program card is introduced, another number (123) will be printed out on the right next to the DTC. This number indicates the type of malfunction, which is also given again "word for word" below the affected component. It has been decided not to explain this three-digit number in the table. It signifies the type of malfunction, which is also shown literally below the component.
