Section D - Installation of Fuel Sending Unit (Loc. -G169-)

^ Carefully disengage 2-pin harness connector -1- and disconnect connector.





^ Remove locking ring from fuel level sending unit cover using tool 3087.

^ Lift fuel level sending unit -G169- up slightly and out of opening in gas tank.





^ Disconnect harness connector -A- on bottom of fuel level sending unit cover.

^ Reach into fuel tank and disconnect fuel lines from siphon pump -2- by squeezing tabs together -arrows- and remove sender -1- the fuel tank.

^ Remove seal from fuel tank opening.

^ Install new seal (8E0 919 133) from kit onto fuel tank ensuring that it is properly seated on the upper and lower edges.

^ Insert new fuel level sending unit (3B0 201 318C) from kit into siphon pump until tabs lock into position.

CAUTION!
Be careful not to damage the float or the float arm when installing new sender.

^ Reconnect harness connector to fuel level sending unit located on bottom fuel level sending unit cover.

^ Install fuel level sending unit into fuel tank





^ Make certain arrow -1- on fuel tank and arrow -2- on sender cover are aligned.

Note:
For correct fuel sending unit operation the arrows on the fuel level sending unit cover and the fuel tank must be aligned as close as possible.

^ Reinstall locking ring for fuel level sending unit using the 3087 wrench and tighten to 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.)

^ Reconnect harness connector to fuel level sending unit cover.

^ Proceed to Section E.
