Section E - Installation of Fuel Sending Unit (Loc. -G237-)

^ Disconnect harness connector -arrow- on fuel level sending unit cover -G237- in luggage compartment.





^ Use the 2012A nut wrench and remove nut.

^ Lift fuel level sending unit, loosen seal on fuel tank and remove seal and fuel level sending unit from the fuel tank.

Note:
The fuel level sending unit will need to be turned slightly clockwise for removal. Also, this is a tight fit with minimal clearance for removal. Reinsert fuel level sending unit several times to learn removal and install prior to installing new fuel level sending unit.





^ Carefully install new fuel level sending unit -2- (3B0 201 317P) and new seal (6N0 919 133).

CAUTION!
Do not bend float arm of fuel level sending unit.





^ While inserting sender, turn slightly clockwise on its own axis.

^ Hold fuel level sending unit above the fuel tank, install new seal onto the fuel tank and insert the fuel level sending unit into the seal.





Note:
Arrow in illustration references front of vehicle.

^ Prior to installing the nut, make certain the fuel level sending unit is in the correct position; the arrow -2- on the sender MUST be aligned with the arrow -1- on the fuel tank.

Note
A straight edge against tabs on fuel level sending unit will assist in arrow alignment.





^ Reinstall nut and tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) using tool 2012A.

^ Reconnect harness connector to fuel level sending unit cover.

^ Proceed to Section F
