Cooling system components (body side)
1. Radiator
- If replaced also replace engine coolant completely
2. O-ring
- Replace if damaged
3. Coolant hose, upper
- Attached to radiator with retaining clip
- Check securely seated
4. Connector
5. Retaining clip
- Check securely seated
6. A/C cutout Thermal switch -F163
- Vehicles with A/C only
- Otherwise a blind plug
7. Hose from connector on cylinder head
8. Coolant pipe
9. Coolant pipe
10. Connector
- Black
- Two Pins
11. Cap
- Check using;
- V.A.G 1274 Cooling system tester and V.A.G. 1274/9 adaptor
- Test pressure;
- 1.4 to 1.6 Bar
12. 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
13. Expansion tank
- Carry out leak test of cooling system with V.A.G. 1274 cooling system tester and V.A.G. 1274/8 adaptor
14. Hose from throttle control module
15. Hose to coolant pipe
16. Air ducting
17. Radiator fan -V35
18. Fan bracket
19. Retaining clip
- Check securely seated
20. Radiator fan
21. Bracket
- For radiator fan connector
- Attached to radiator with retaining clip
- Check securely seated
22. Coolant hose, lower
23. Connector
- Black
- Three pins
24. Thermo switch -F18-, 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
- For electric fan
- Switching Temperatures;
- Stage 1
- ON: 92 - 97 °C
- OFF: 84 - 91 °C
- Stage 2
- ON: 99 - 105 °C
- OFF: 91 - 98 °C
